The things I do

to keep Luxor away from things he shouldn't eat and Stoli away from breaking things:

Hiding the cord for the blinds.

Electrical tape for the china cabinet.

A lock for the sliding closet doors.

Keeping all doors to bathrooms shut as a rule.

Magnetic locks for all cabinet doors.

Keeping the telephone cord out of reach.

Taping the sliding door so he can't get the insulation.

Putting all magnets at the top of the refrigerator.

Luxor ate what?!?

Well, Luxor again ate something he shouldn't have, but so far so good. He's not gotten sick.

This is what he ate - 18 inches of a clay cutting nylong string. Here's the eaten portion:

And here's my new one that will be under lock and key. As if that would help!

P. S. Do you see Luxor checking out the string????

It Never Fails

Luxor has eaten my entire 16 inches of clay cutting string. I try so hard to clean up and keep things out of his mouth. He ate a hole in my cashmere sweater, but it wasn't much. And in December he ate 6 inches of a shoe lace of one of my piano student's. All of my clothes are under lock and key. I just am beside myself. He eats so much that he's not supposed to.

I am such a horrible person for leaving this stuff out. Why can't I clean up everything? Why does he always find stuff to eat? Why Why Why? Why can't he just LEAVE MY STUFF ALONE? I'll never forgive myself for this.

I hate myself - utterly disgusted with myself. Just disgusted.

And he does it again

I think I now have proof that Luxor will never learn. Today I came home to a half eaten piece of Styrofoam. I'm pretty sure that he wouldn't have been able to eat it whole, so it must be in pieces - I just hope he doesn't get a blockage.

Luxor's ALMOST trip to the vet

I don't understand WHY Luxor insists on eating anything and everything that can fit in his mouth. He has a long history of eating stuff that doesn't belong in cats' tummies. Well, because of that I religiously check and double check the floors, etc. for small things that Luxor may find tasty.

On Christmas he ate about a 1.5" long piece of green plastic and threw it up. I have absolutely NO idea where he got it. I looked all around and couldn't find anything that matched it. I am very glad he was able to get it up but that really couldn't have been tasty.

Well the day after Christmas, he ate a 2" piece of ribbon. When will this cat LEARN!!!! He felt awful all day. Obviously if I had caught him doing this I would have taken the ribbon away. We were getting ready to sit down to dinner and Luxor started to 'projectile' vomit. LOVELY!

It was completely disgusting and smelled awful. But he felt better afterward. I was just about to take him to the emergency vet when he started to act a little better, drink water and talk to me. We decided to talk to his vet in the morning. I'm glad we waited. We called them, got some hairball lubricant to help him pass anything he had left and came home - we didn't bring him in. Which he would have despised.

He's doing a lot better tonight. I think he's going to be ok. Now, I have no idea if he learned a lesson or not. I wish cats could talk....
