I like the porcelain ones. I'm partial to things that take a lot of effort!

meemsnyc May 19, 2009 at 10:34 PM

Ooooooh, the porcelain kitties are great!! Adorable.

BeadedTail May 19, 2009 at 11:12 PM

I like both because they have different qualities making them both unique. If I had to choose, I'd say porcelain though.

Sarah May 19, 2009 at 11:59 PM

I prefer the porcelain figurines - they look "cleaner". They come out nicer, the colours look brighter, and the detail is more precise.

I still love my polymer figurines, but I LOVE the porcelain :)

Mishkat May 20, 2009 at 9:10 AM

I like them both! The porcelain is really great for doing markings - as in the beautiful orange tabby in the close-up. I like the polymer because of the bright colors, and the way you can do overlays - as in "Flor" - plus the polymer isn't as breakable (I do consider this because Brian and the cats both break things! For example, I would never put a porcelain sculpture on Brian's desk, but the polymer of Tasha looks great there.)

I think you should use the material that you most enjoy sculpting in :)!

Oh, Renovia, I have to say, I like them both, but I think I like the finished look of the porcelain kitties the best. The shine of the glaze and the detail you are able to accomplish with various colors is just so appealing! But I still love the bright, "whimsical" polymer cat sculptures, too...And I would LOVE to win one, for sure! :) Hee, hee!

I like the porcelain one, particularly the one pictured. It looks just like my kitty!

love em both, porcelain and polymer, since all your kitties look adorable, no matter what they're made off:)

Hana May 21, 2009 at 8:04 AM

I love things made from porcelain! The colors are more vibrant and the scupltures are smoother! I love the clean look! These kitties are adorable! The orange one pictured looks just like my childhood cat. I got him on my 5th birthday and he died when I was 20. I miss him and would love to have such a sweet little sculpture to remember him. Thanks for the chance! You are sooo talented!

I love the porcelain ones best! They are gorgeous! Even though the polymer figures are great as well!

I much prefer the porcelain, although the polymer ones are nice as well.

I've always loved your little kitties but have yet to purchase a few. I was thinking of using them as ring holders.
I like how your finger prints show through on them. It shows that they are truly handmade with love.

Ladytink_534 May 21, 2009 at 3:13 PM

Oh I like both the polymer clay and the porcelain! The porcelain looks more delicate though for some reason so I'd have to go with it.

I prefer porcelain for the way it looks, but being a clumsy oaf for the most part, I think polymer is better. Alas, conflicting interests. Keep making both!

FlightFancy May 22, 2009 at 1:55 AM

I prefer the porcelain myself. Just prefer the feel I guess. Your kitties are just so sweet :)

Carapace May 22, 2009 at 6:12 AM

I like the porcelain better! That may sound strange coming from someone who herself uses Polyclay, but well...everyone uses polyclay. Porcelain is distinnctive, and gives your designs an extra body that sets them apart. At least, I think so. And when I think of how the two things would feel in my hands..yeah, the porcelain all the way.

I'm Carapace on Etsy, if you want to visit.:)

Personally, I enjoy the variety! Both mediums have their attractions, and your shop appeals to me more because you have both (and more!).

renovia!!! hi! from your new collector! i have 2 resin and one porcelain, and i like them both for different reasons. the resin are fun, and have finer details. the porcelain are more fluid, no sharp angles, just softness. i've fallen inlove with the siamese and the ginger kitty. oh, that i were a rich woman.......
nan
ps, i'm going upstairs and start clearing a place for my next kitty

Sinclair May 23, 2009 at 5:25 PM

I like a smattering of both. The porcelain ones are really sweet and I like the finish. I think porcelain is more sophisticated, but polymer can be nice, and each appeals to a different audience.

judybrittle May 23, 2009 at 5:53 PM

I do like both and even though I'm outnumbered I like the polymer figurines better. It might be because the Pawsitively Purrrple kitty is so gorgeous! I signed up for your newsletter and am a Facebook fan Judy Brittle.

Hi ya sweetums! You know I LOVE everything you make, the porcelain statues are wonderful, but a little out of my price range...but that is me...they are worth the every penny! :)

I re-tweeted this for you and will blog about it to get you more exposure!

renovia May 24, 2009 at 8:38 PM

Well, I'm actually going to try out some molds this summer and that should help pricing wise - but I'm torn on it because they'll all be the same shape and size......hmmmmmm

Donna May 25, 2009 at 8:29 AM

They are all darling. But I think the porcelain wins by a nose.

Angel Junior, Orion and Sammy May 25, 2009 at 12:11 PM

Porcelain works for us! Meowm especially likes your Siamese kitty!!!

Sara May 29, 2009 at 4:07 PM

Porcelain, but just by a whisker. They're all adorable. :)

Melissa May 30, 2009 at 7:28 PM

I think both are beautiful, but the porcelain ones are REALLY awesome! I saw the custom Jonah on Jakeandmicah.blogpsot and fell in love!

M Dawson June 3, 2009 at 3:31 PM

This is a tough one. Yes I love the porcelain, but the polymer clay ones have a touch of magic about them, you see finger marks (the human touch)and some of the faces on the polymer clay ones are quite sublte (even if you don't intend to make them so - although know you - you might!). OK so that's no help is it? OK don't abandon the polyclay ones both have their beauty and I wonder why you want to abandon one for the other anyway?

Oh I Facebooked your giveaway, Twittered your giveaway, and am letting my friends know.

Annette Tait June 3, 2009 at 6:55 PM

I have always loved porcelain for it's weight, immaculate clear glazes, crackles in the glaze and slight imperfections due to the nature of creation.
I particularly like your white porcelain cats as I feel that white porcelain, as opposed to coloured, has more true expression of the piece and for me, sometimes a coloured/painted piece detracts from it's simplicity.

And after saying all that - I like your red polymer cats the best out of the polymer range. I also like the rounded feet on them, the tactile nature of their appearance and the finger prints on them.

If I had to choose it would be porcelain for me as it represents everlasting art to be cherished and cared for.
(I have many porcelain ornaments with glued on legs and ears - that's life!!)

thanks for the competition!
and

ps

I love the description of this cat!

(my refrigerator is rather 'elegant to the eye' inside *gives a slight smile and goes slightly pink*)

Meghann June 4, 2009 at 7:00 AM

I like both types, as they have a different feel to the finished product. The porcelain gives a very smooth feel and look, while the clay gives a teensy bit of rustic-ness to the cats.
I do think the porcelain is probably more popular amongst collectors though, if that was where you wanted to go. If collecting is your goal, don't use molds! It will be more expensive, sure, but each piece is one of a kind and therefore much more collectible. Or, you could do a set of molded cats for a little less and have a "collector's edition" set of hand-crafted porcelain - that would be very cool :)
Good luck, I love your work no matter what :)

Anonymous,  June 4, 2009 at 8:25 AM

I like both, but am drawn more to the porcelain.

maria June 5, 2009 at 9:10 AM

Melissa June 5, 2009 at 1:42 PM

I'm a fan of the porcelain ones. The polymers are cute, but the porcelains seem more refined. I like the look of the glazing, as well.

I signed up as a follower. I like the porcelain kitties the best. I have four feline babies and it would really be difficult to pick one to be made into a figurine. Probably Taji, she has lynx point markings and aqua eyes. She was a feral kitten my husband brought home from work.

porcelain is unique and you can make all kids of shape and size. They are precious as none of them are the exact same. Each is unique!

Jaya June 17, 2009 at 7:33 AM

I love porcelain. My favorite is Tuna Dish, second

Jen June 18, 2009 at 9:22 PM

Porcelain seems so much more precious. I like that idea best, but it's just me. Not sure about polymer, to be honest! They're all just so ridiculously cute....sigh...
