Curds and Whey

I am a big fan of cottage cheese. But only the first day or two after you open it. I hate the liquid that pools in the container. I wish it was all dry like it is on the top when you first open it. Do you like that part of cottage cheese? Do you know how to keep it from getting soupy? I've read things about flipping it upside down on a plate - but that didn't really work. So now I'm stuck and I'm putting this out there for anyone who knows anything about cottage cheese.

FONDUE!

We had fondue this weekend, beef fondue. It's pretty tasty. You cook the beef in vegetable oil and have salad and bread. I love fondue because you don't over eat. You sit, chat, wait, instead of stuffing your face!

Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair

My friend Mei from Jake and Micah (see site) are trading a Siamese porcelain sculpture for some Pledge Fabric Sweepers. I have looked and looked and looked for them around here, couldn't find them so she sent some to me all the way from California.

These things definitely get two thumbs up, Luxor sheds all over the couch and these things picked it right up. I'm really impressed with the way it works and it should last about a month or so. Glad we've got 3 more!!!!

This one is close to being full because our couch really needed a once over. And it was covered with hair as you can tell.

Here is the underside of the sweeper.

And here is my couch, before and after - there is a little hair left but you can see that it's a difficult place to get all the hair off.

Why!!!! (Rant on selling houses)

Ok, I'm going to blog about the dilemma my parents are in. Parents, if you are reading this - read at your own risk because you may not listen to my voice, but the internet will listen!

My parents are looking to purchase a house in my area, example they live 5 hours away, they want to live within an hour of me. GREAT! I can hardly wait. There are a couple of one floor condos within their price range if they play their cards right - actually in the same complex as my in-laws which they just love.

Well, my husband is a realist and he said (to me) that they need to get a market analysis and put the house on the market ASAP because people buy in the spring and we don't want to have to wait until NEXT spring for a purchase. I explained this to my mother, and she stated that she'll try talking to dad again - but he wants to wait a bit to make the house look better before we have anyone come over and look at it.

Number 1: No one cares about your 'minor' improvements if they are done or not. We're talking some molding and railings. It's an OLD farm house that they've updated, kept up and is on 5 acres of land with a pond. It has a three car garage/barn and a HUGE bonus room above the garages that could easily be sublet. It also has a HUGE woodworking shop. It's got 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, an incredible porch. It's great. It's not too updated - I'm thinking the Amish may really like this house (we have a growing Amish population)

Number 2: If you keep waiting, you'll never put it on the market because, let's face it - it's NOT going to get done. You have a laundry list a mile long of nit-picky things.

Number 3: The longer you wait, the older you get. PERIOD

Number 4: You do not live in a really populated area and you need to take advantage of the market and not HOPE it's going to work out. Things sell fairly quickly if priced right in Southern Maine. Northern Maine, I'm assuming it's going to take a while.

Number 5: Everything is contingent upon your house selling, you can't move unless it sells, you can't sell if it's not on the market. If it's not on the market, you're staying put.

Now, I know in your eyes I'm still your naive little girl. But let's all wake up and taste reality. You haven't bought or sold a house in over 30 years, things are different now. I've purchased a house recently in the area you are looking and we are ready and willing to help but you've gotta kick yourselves in the pants and get started. Sure it's going to be emotional, but hey - it's not emotional until it's actually sold and we move you out. So let's get going, and get to the emotional part when it actually arrives.

(off soapbox)

Update on Luxor's Health

A while back Luxor was coughing, itching, throwing up....on a regular basis. We knew it was 'elevated allergens' but we couldn't figure out what he was allergic to.....

He's on Fancy Feast and loves it. He hasn't thrown up (knock on wood) for months and has WAY more energy now. He's lost some weight, trimmed right up. He has loads loads loads more energy and has a much more enjoyable demeanor, he used to act depressed.

After eating he used to just want to go to sleep and he was groggy. Now he is alert and wants to play after eating.

Yea for Fancy Feast (I can't believe I'm saying that!)

Goals for the week

This is my vacation week and although I want to spend time relaxing and hanging with family, I want to also use this time to work on Endless Whimsy.

Goals:
1. Prepare the May Newsletter - if you haven't signed up, you certainly should! The link is on the left!
2. Make some polymer sculptures for the store
3. Get the stock back up over 50 items
4. Promote on ArtFire - hopefully get my first sale over vacation. If I don't get a sale by the end of May, I may need to 'stop' selling there. I know I need to keep listing to stay visible, but I just don't receive the traffic I need to warrant splintering off of Etsy.

Do you have anything you'd like to see me work on?

Quick Birthday Video

Well it wasn't taken on my birthday, but it is taken on a birthday present! DH got me a Flip Mino HD and here is my first 'low light' shot of the mino. Definitely don't just the quality by this video because there was hardly any light and I know that creates a lot of noise.

New Endeavors

I've been working hard on getting new projects going and this is my latest. Porcelain sculptures hand painted to look like 'real' cats. Of course they still have the whimsy to them, but they have the potential to be much closer to real life than the polymer ones:

It was much easier than I thought and it was actually empowering to fix it. It's not perfect, but I'm ok with it!
